About Loka
Founded in 2015, Loka provides full-time education in Manikpur Village, along the Punpun River in northern India.
The school grounds include classrooms, a farm and outdoor spaces that encourage learning, creativity, play and reflection.
Most parents work as small-scale farmers or daily wage labourers and cannot afford access to quality education. Through Loka, their children are supported in developing their full potential and engaging with the world with confidence.

On growth
& grounding
Rooted is a colourful still life, loosely inspired by Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, learning and wisdom.
In the photo, a single flower carries several blossoms. They are supported, connected, and held in balance.
The work reflects on care, attention and continuity, on growing from a shared foundation.
If you have any questions, or would like to order from outside The Netherlands, feel free to reach out by email.

About Mireille
Mireille creates photographic worlds composed of shapes, colours and materials that often go unnoticed. Each work begins with a thought or a feeling, guided by intuition.
Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a creative branding specialist.
“In February, I will visit Loka together with my brother, sister and brother-in-law. I know Charlotte from our time working together in the Netherlands on the cultural newspaper FL.uit – she as a client through the Flevoland Bureau for Tourism, and I as the designer of the publication.
I have followed her work over the years and deeply admire her dedication to creating a beautiful, just and peaceful world through education. It is from this admiration – and a shared belief in the power of education – that I feel compelled to contribute in this way.”
